What is the CTCI?

The CTCI program is a combination of a training course and a certification exam. Once certified, you will be able to teach courses under the Center of Training name by choosing from a couple different options.

1) Teach Center of Training curriculum/classes - live in-person or live webinar format for your own organization.
2) Using your own area of expertise, create & teach asynchronous courses & live webinar classes for Center of Training.

CTCI's will receive a revenue commission for any of your own classes added to the Center of Training training catalog & webinar schedule.

CTCI-E's (Elite) will have first choice for the selection of topics when creating courses for Center of Training.

Annually, in December of each year, Center of Training will hold a CTCI instructor competition. One winner each year will earn the CTCI-M (Master) designation, signifying the accomplishment & earning the highest level of CTCI instructor that Center of Training recognizes.

How Does It Work?

There are several steps to the CTCI (Center of Training Certified Instructor) program:

1.  Complete the no-cost prerequisite course, "Expectations & Criteria of a CTCI." This short course explains the CTCI program in detail, & is required prior to enrolling in the program.

2. Enroll in, & complete, the Center of Training Certified Instructor (CTCI) training program. This program will teach fundamentals of curriculum development, & presentation of live webinars, asynchronous (pre-recorded) training courses, & live in-person classes. Also covered are issues related to liability when presenting mental health topics, & documentation requirements of all CTCI's.

3. Take the two-part CTCI examination.  The first part is a multiple-choice examination in which you must score at least a 90%. The second part is a video-based demonstration of your presentation skills. This will include three (3) different formats & skill tests. You must score a 90% or better on the presentation rubric to pass. Passing both the examination & the video-based presentation tests earn you the designation of Center of Training Certified Instructor (CTCI).

4. Start teaching:

4a. Once certified you will have 1-year access to the CTCI Portal, which allows you to choose from a library of training courses in a train-the-trainer format which you can then teach for your own organization or group. Each course requires an annual access fee as well as a mini-exam so that we are assured that you are prepared to teach the topic.

4b. Once certified you may present new course ideas in your area of expertise - if accepted, we will work closely with you as you create a class, or classes, to be added to our live webinar or on-demand course catalogs. Center of Training will pay a 25% revenue commission for every course you teach with us.

5. Renew your CTCI certification every year to enable you to continue using the designation/ credentials & to keep your class access current for the next year. You will also be required to complete a .5 hour (30 minute) continuing education class each year when renewing.

We take the responsibility & the privilege of teaching mental health topics very seriously.  Guiding the mental health knowledge & growth of other human beings is a privilege & honor like no other. Because of this, we hold our instructors to very high standards. We expect & require all of our instructors to meet those standards & to take this responsibility as seriously as we do.

2. You must pass with a 90% score or better to be eligible to submit video-based presentation tests.

3. You will (with thorough instructions) submit 3 different types of video-based presentations to the Center of Training team. You will be given a scoring rubric so that expectations are very clear ahead of time. You must earn a 90% on the presentation tests in order to earn the CTCI certification.

Where is the CTCI certification recognized?

The CTCI program is a certification rather than a license, and so it is recognized everywhere. Different types of training documentation and privileges are defined here:

1. Certificate of training -- this is a certificate/document provided when someone completes a training class which simply shows the training was attended or completed.  You can earn a certificate of training by completing the CTCI training course but not taking the exam. This does not enable you to use the credentials or claim yourself as a CTCI, & does not allow access to the train-the-trainer programs. CTCI certification is required in order to submit classes to the Center of Training catalog.

2. Certification -- credentials and designation which is earned by completing a training program and passing a proficiency and knowledge examination. The provider/host of a certification program must be a subject matter expert who is qualified to teach and test the training content provided. Center of Training qualifies as a provider of certification in mental health and wellness trainng programs. Read our "About Us" page here.

3. License -- a government-issued (typically) right to provide professional services within a particular location (state, etc.). The CTCI is not a license, and does not train or enable anyone to provide professional services like counseling, etc.

2. One 30-minute session of CE (continuing education) training provided by Center of Training each year.  Every CTCI will take the same CE classes for the purpose of standardization and cumulative learning - we want the CTCI certification to be held at a very high standard so that anyone seeing you have earned this CTCI designation knows that you have gained extensive knowledge and are continuing to learn and stay current on teaching mental health and wellness topics.

Please note that the CTCI certification belongs to the individual and not to any employing organization.
