RESeT for Kids
(Ages 9-12)
Have you ever wished you could just press "Pause" on life, and give yourself some time to rest, catch up, or simply get a fresh start?
That's a RESeT, and we all need one once in a while. During a reset you block out distractions, set up boundaries to protect yourself from daily pressure temporarily, and you include rest. For adults this means taking time to rest from decision-making, errand-running, phone calls, texting, emails, job requests, family drama, stressful situations, and all the things in life that keep you running too fast, and for too long.
For kids, a RESeT day is a day to look back at the past (like their school year), take time to reflect and self-assess, and then start planning a healthy, positive and intentional future. Each participant receives a workbook, and the day is guided by a mental health professional with expertise in crisis prevention, trauma recovery, and future health & wellness planning.
The day will begin with breakfast provided from 7:30am-8:00am. The guided day of wellness follows this agenda:
1. Introduction to the day, the workbook, and the other participants.
2. Workbook: Self-assessment -- A look at how they feel about how their last year or so has gone, what they may wish they could change, what worked that they'd do again, and where they think they're headed on their current path.
3. Creative Project: Did you know creativity reduces anxiety? We'll have several types of creative projects to choose from.
4. Lesson: A fun and relaxing interactive lesson on anxiety, stress, and managing emotions through self-care and regulation.
5. Assessment Review: Each participant will take a look at their self-assessment results and build a visual project that reflects their individual path.
6. LUNCH: Lunch will be provided for full-day participants. Please let us know of any food allergies or dietary restrictions ahead of time.
7. Rest: Part of creating a reset is rest. RESeT / RES_T - See what we did there? No, we won't put cots on the floor and take naps. Participants will learn to relax, calm their breathing, calm emotions, and interactively learn the benefits of self-care and anxiety reduction.
8. "Free" Time: Participants may bring a book, a journal, or do some activities they'll find in their workbook. No tablets or other electronics are permitted. Being present, and grounding, are part of a RESeT.
9. Lesson: Participants will be guided through another interactive and fun learning period, about being proactive and intentional with life choices, healthy living, and wellness-building.
10. Plan: Each participant will then take everything they've experienced throughout the day and, using their workbook, create their own personal go-forward strategy plan. They'll be shown how to communicate positively to parents & caregivers what goals they'd like to set for a mutually agreeable discussion of realistic options and plans for following through. (We understand that parents & caregivers have the final say in these things, and participants will be guided to respect and follow the result of any goal-setting discussions at home.)
Participants must be picked up between 5pm-5:30pm. If you would like to sit with them and let them tell you about their day, this will be a great time & place for that to happen prior to leaving.
NOTE: While this experiential wellness day is guided by a mental health professional, it is not counseling. There will be no diagnosis, no treatment, and no counseling sessions provided. However, we are happy to refer you to trusted clinicians if you feel there is a need.
RESeT™ Participation Guidelines
These guidelines exist to protect the quiet, safety, and restorative nature of the RESeT experience—for you and for everyone sharing the space.
1. Phone-Free Space
We encourage your RESeT to be a phone-free experience. The exception to this would be to use your phone, attached to earbuds or headphones, for quiet music listening. Volume must remain low, and ringers and phone vibration must be turned off, to protect the quiet and to support full separation from daily demands. Trust us when we say… this is a significant benefit of this experience.
An emergency contact number for the office will be provided in advance and may be shared with family, co-parents, schools, or caregivers if needed, and participants may step out of the experience at any time if a personal need arises.
2. No Visitors or Guests
To maintain a protected and interruption-free environment, visitors and unregistered guests are not permitted during a RESeT day.
3. Quiet Space Expectations
RESeT is a shared quiet space.
- Conversation is kept to a quiet minimum inside the space.
- If you are ill, coughing, or feeling unwell, please reschedule your RESeT day.
- Headphones or earbuds are strongly encouraged for personal sound or additional noise blocking. Personal music, videos, or media must not be audible to others.
These guidelines help ensure the space remains calm, restful, and respectful for everyone.
4. Personal Items & Comfort
Participants are welcome to bring:
- A blanket for personal use
- Books, notebooks, or journals
- A water bottle or coffee
- Small, quiet, non-odorous snacks
Please keep personal items contained within your personal space and out of shared walkways. We do have a refrigerator on-site as well as a secure place to store your belongings for the day, if you choose.
5. Optional Creative Materials
Art and reflection materials (such as paper, crayons, markers, paint, clay, and other supplies) will be available for optional use throughout the day, along with the self-guided RESeT workbook. Use what serves you; participation in any activity is entirely optional.
6. Restroom Access
Please note that there is only one shared restroom on-site. Participants are asked to be mindful and respectful of shared use.
7. Dress for Comfort
Dress comfortably and in layers, as room temperatures may vary throughout the day.
8. Mutual Respect
RESeT is grounded in mutual respect—for yourself, for others in the space, and for the experience itself.
Participants are asked to honor:
- The quiet
- The boundaries of others
- Your own need for rest and care
9. Refund Policy
RESeT registrations are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7+ days in advance may be rescheduled once to a future available date, or you may transfer your registration to someone else (great excuse to give a gift!), but must notify Center of Training prior to the RESeT date.
RESeT is a small-group, protected experience. Once a space is reserved, it is held exclusively for you. This policy allows us to maintain the integrity, calm, and quality of the experience for everyone.
In the unlikely event that Center of Training must cancel a scheduled RESeT day, participants will be offered the choice of a full refund or rescheduling to a future date.
