Mental Health Moment | Focus on the Good

Feb 06, 2022

“The world” is not bad. Our world is not falling apart and succumbing to evil. An evil person, from time to time, does evil things. But look how outnumbered they are. Yes, they do harm, and yes, it’s hard to see. It stops us in our tracks. Let’s try saying, “That person was evil.” ..and not “The entire world is horrible and we’re all doomed.” Self-fulfilling prophecy… you focus on what you want to become, you listen to what you want to become, you speak what you want to become. Be aware of the occasional bad, but look for the good and GROW the good in the world.
If there are 2.3 million people in the U.S. that are incarcerated, you may feel like “the country” is done for and full of evil. But there are 327.2 million people in the U.S. That means 7% of the U.S. population is incarcerated… which means 93% are not. Those incarcerated for murder, considered THE most violent crime?...179,000. That means .05% of the U.S. population are convicted murderers. Which leaves 327,021,000 people (99.95%) who aren’t out to kill you. Focus on the good. Be the good. Encourage the good.
